Stop Believing and Falling for The Hype

Almost every site I visit on the Internet that caters to home-based business, network marketing or Internet Marketing business owners have people who have been trying for years to make money online.

Yet, there is an abundance of people who believe they can start a business online, throw up a site and make money. Wrong! Stop believing and falling for the hype and stop making the same business mistakes.

Let’s break this down, so you can save your time and money.

First, do you understand who your target market is, what they want and what they are spending their money on? Do you fully understand the product or service you are promoting? Or, are you falling for the hype and throwing your money away?

Second, the process of understanding your target market is tedious and time consuming. Do not let anyone tell you otherwise. You must put some time in to understand them. Once it’s done it gets easier.

Third, why is it you can invest thousands of dollars over 4-years for a college education for yourself or your child with no guarantee of an income increase. Yet, you become impatient when you do not make what you feel you should online within a year? Shouldn’t you at least give it the same four years you would invest in your education?

Fourth, recall how long it took for you to get good at your favorite hobby and relate that to your online business as it will require that same type of work ethic and investment of time. Anything less and you will short change yourself and bank account too.

To be honest, I’m tired of people trying to take shortcuts and who do not take the time to learn the process required to succeed online. No one can get around it. There are certain things you must do. Period.

If you skip them then suffer the consequences. You may make a little bit of money or a nice sum periodically but you will not be running a business. Can’t get into this right now as that’s another post.

Like I tell my members, “If you are unwilling to do the work then consider your business a hobby and stay at your day job because you do not have what it takes to succeed in business.”

It sounds harsh but I would rather they not start something they are not serious about and cannot stay focused on. It’s best they enjoy what they do than waste time thinking they will make money running a business when they cannot stop believing the hype.

Please understand that it’s a process, it will take time and require some patience to run a successful business online and offline. If you can accept that then you are well on your way.

Just so you know, a lot of people who are selling products and services online play on your dreams and get you excited, so they could get the money out of your pocket. But that’s another post!
