3 Internet Marketing Mistakes to Avoid

In the second segment of this series we covered how to choose a product or service to sell based on simple market research.
In order for you to avoid the 3 Internet marketing mistakes you need to compare the various products and services you desire to promote after conducting your research. Then take your time to apply what you learned from your information gathering.
One of the first mistakes you will make is to promote the first thing your eyes see that “appears” to match what the target market is spending money on.
So, you move forward and start promoting the product or service. You sit back and wait for the results. And you wait and you wait.
What happened? Why aren’t you making sales?
Let’s back up a little and cover some basics here.
First, you did not thoroughly investigate most of the products or services you could market. While the one you picked might look good it may not actually target what people want. Remember, it’s not about you but the target market.
Second, once you compare the products or services you now have to do the same for various strategies and tactics. This means that you take one strategy or tactic and apply it.
Then you measure its effectiveness before you implement another. As you can see this can be time consuming depending on the methods you use (i.e., social marketing, article marketing, Adwords, Press Releases, etc.)
The common mistake you might make is to try various strategies and methods at the same time. Then you will not know which one is actually producing the results for you.
Where do you find these strategies? Simple…
…you identify the top players in your market and study what they are doing and test what you find for yourself.
Third, once you find what works you scale it up (expand it) but now you begin to look for tools you can use to free you up to test more methods. This will require you to spend more time testing tools and verifying which one best fits your project and budget.
Another common mistake is to spend more money to scale up. This is not necessary if you have truly analyzed your top competitors. You will find they do spend money but they have relationships with sites that drive traffic to them.
Many tools are free. If you desire to get fast results or to determine if you can get results then do PPC (Pay Per Click).
Notice anything about the first three segments of this series?
It requires you to really dig in and do some information gathering, testing and tracking. That is truly the only way you will know if something works for you. Do not listen to what others say only listen to your results.
If you fail to base everything on your tests you will waste a lot of time and money.
